Where to go
Scarborough has a wealth of attractions for any visitor. It’s not just about buckets and spades, fish and chips and candyfloss (though of course this is still a great aspect of the town!) But the 1st seaside resort still offers grand esplanade walks with breathtaking views, award winning gardens and classic architectural landmarks. Some of the best beaches you will find anywhere can be found along this Jurassic coast where fossils are simply waiting to be found among the rock pools.
The modern marina sits neatly inside the medieval harbour and is overlooked by the 10th century castle and Roman signal station. The town offers many cultural attractions; the nationally acclaimed Stephen Joseph Theatre offers touring productions that would be proud to sit in any London theatre. The Rotunda museum, recently nominated for The Art Fund Prize 2009 for its £4million re-fit is worth a visit and as with many coastal towns, Scarborough is home to many artists and galleries.
On our doorstep are many other gems: Castle Howard, the set for Brideshead, Rievaulx Abbey, North York Moors Steam Railway and of course York itself is only an hour away.
